2009 Kramer Vineyards Carmine Big Red Oregon

I first tasted a bottle back in mid 2013 and wanted to revisit the wine after allowing it to age over the past year. What I found after popping the cork was just amazing. Now for those of you who have heard little of the varietal, carmine is a hybrid of cabernet sauvignon, carignane and merlot. Ripe fruit with intense juicy character is what you will encounter with each savory sip.

The nose is still intense with blackberry and plum followed by an herbal/white pepper spice. As you swirl the herbs dissipate leaving this beautiful soft aroma of dark and red fruit. Blows me away.

The label says "Big Red" but the mouth says silky smooth. Red raspberry, cherry and plum with a slight hint of cloves. The finish is juicy and long but so soft with raspberry, vanilla and plum.

Celebrate 30+ years of grape growing in Oregon with Kramer Vineyards  and their amazing wines. Stop by the winery at 26830 Northwest Olson Road Gaston OR open daily 11-5.

Cheers
